The HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) Version 4.3.0 (or earlier) for Linux fails to retrieve the iLO Event Logs and reports a "Segmentation fault" with HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) Firmware Version 1.50 (or later). This issue occurs under the following scenario: Install HPONCFG Version 4.3.0 for Linux on a ProLiant Gen8 server running RHEL or SUSE Linux with iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.50 (or later) installed. On the Linux host terminal, run the command "hponcfg -f Get_iLO_Log.xml" to retrieve the iLO Event Logs. HPONCFG reports a Segmentation Fault. For example, entering the command, # hponcfg -f Get_iLO_Log.xml, will result in the message, Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Scope
Any HP ProLiant server with HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4), HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) Version 4.3.0 (or earlier) for Linux and iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.50 (or later).
Resolution
HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) Version 4.3.1 (or later) for Linux corrects this issue and will retrieve the iLO Event Logs successfully. The latest version of the HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) for Linux 32 Bit and 64 Bit HPONCFG v4.3.1 is available as follows: Click the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home Enter a product name (e.g., "iLO 4") in the text search field and wait for a list of products to populate. From the products displayed, identify the desired product and click on the Drivers & software icon to the right of the product. From the Drivers & software dropdown menus on the left side of the page: Select the Software Sub Type - Select the Software Type - Software - Lights-Out Management Select the Software Sub Type - (e.g. All) Select the specific Linux Operating System from the Operating Environment. Select the latest release of HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) Version 4.3.1 (or later). NOTE: To ensure the latest version will be downloaded, click on the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available. Click Download.
