On a ProLiant server running HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) 7.2, 7.3, or 7.4, under the Tasks and Logs-Tasks Results screen, "Identify Systems" may display the message "Some Critical Failures" for an affected node. These failures may or may not be false. If the status is "Normal," it indicates that the system has valid hardware data (model, serial number, and unique identifier) and has been identified properly for HP SIM to manage. If the status is "Critical," this is an indication that the nodes cannot be identified by either WBEM or SNMP.

Scope

Any ProLiant server running HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) 7.2, 7.3 or 7.4.

Resolution

If the Identification details shows SNMP data was obtained , then the critical error is false and can be safely ignored. To prevent this issue from occurring, Edit "System Credentials" and provide a valid WBEM credential in addition to the SNMP credential. There is no valid workaround available for this issue where only the SNMP protocol is used for management. This advisory will be updated if additional information becomes available.
