On an HP ProLiant XL170r Gen9 server or HP ProLiant XL190r Gen9 server configured in an HP Apollo r2000, HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) cannot be connected through the Shared Network Port when the "Embedded LOM 1: HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter" has been disabled. This issue occurs under the following circumstances: Under System Configuration -> iLO 4 Configuration Utility -> the Network Options Network Interface Adapter has been set to "Shared Network Port" and the System Configuration-> iLO 4 Configuration Utility -> Advanced Network Options have been configured properly. Enter System Configuration->BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) -> PCI Device Enable/Disable. Select "Embedded LOM 1 : HP Ethernet 1GB 2-port 361i Adapter - NIC" and set to "Disabled." Save the setting in RBSU and reboot the system. iLO cannot be connected through the Shared Network Port.
Scope
Any HP ProLiant XL170r Gen9 server or HP ProLiant XL190r Gen9 server configured in an HP Apollo r2000.
Resolution
iLO 4 connectivity can be recovered after re-enabling the "Embedded LOM 1: HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter." This feature will not be changed because disabling the embedded LOM offers power-saving features. The system is functioning as designed. In the event that iLO 4 must be connected through the Shared Network Port when the embedded LOM is disabled, the following Option Kits are available: IM module 798192-B21 (HP XL1x0r Gen9 DED IM Board Kit) per node OR RCM module 798211-B21 (HP Apollo 2000 RCM module Kit) per chassis.
