SPECIAL NOTE about Cray ChassisBMCs: The UPDATE FIRMWARE WITH FAS document contains notes in the Hardware Precedence Order section that advise administrators to power off the system before updating the ChassisBMC firmware. Specifically, the guide states: “Before updating a CMM, make sure all slot and rectifier power is off. The hms-discovery job must also be stopped before updates and restarted after updates are complete.” Powering off the system is not required to update the firmware that contains the fix for this vulnerability. Fixes for these issues are available for download. Node Controller and Chassis Controller firmware come bundled together as part of the ccnc firmware package. For Cray EX systems running HPE Cray System Management software recipe 22.03 or 22.04, and for Cray EX systems running any version of HPE Performance Cluster Manager software: Download HPC Firmware Pack (HFP) version 22.04 from the HPE Support Center Log into your support account and search for “HFP” The patched firmware, HPE Olympus cCnC Firmware version 1.6.22 is bundled inside HFP 22.04 Follow the directions that come with the HFP to load the firmware onto your system and then use the normal procedures to update the firmware. For Cray EX systems running Shasta version 1.5 Download Download Shasta V1.5-FW0522 from HPE Support Center Log into your support account and search for “Shasta” NOTE: If you are unable to access the new firmware, contact HPE Support and log a call. They will arrange for access. Download Download Shasta V1.5-FW0522 Follow the directions that come with the firmware to load the firmware onto your system and then use the normal procedures to update the firmware. For Cray EX systems running Shasta V1.4.2A Download Shasta V1.4.2A-FW0522 from My HPE Software Center Log into your support account and search for “Shasta” NOTE: If you are unable to access the new firmware, contact HPE Support and log a call. They will arrange for access. Download Shasta V1.4.2A-FW0522 Follow the directions that come with the firmware to load the firmware onto your system and then use the normal procedures to update the firmware. Switch Controller firmware comes bundled with the full Slingshot package, and cannot be updated separately. For all versions of Slingshot, regardless of what type of system it is a part of Download HPE Slingshot Software version 1.7.2 from the HPE Support Center Log into your support account and search for “Slingshot” NOTE: If you are unable to access the new firmware, contact HPE Support and log a call. They will arrange for access. Download HPE Slingshot Software version 1.7.2 Follow the directions that come with the software to update the Slingshot software on your system. If running Shasta 1.4.2A or 1.5, HPE recommends only installing the Slingshot Fabric Manager and Switch Firmware. If running any later Shasta versions, HPE recommends installing the entire update. The Switch Controller firmware will be updated as part of the upgrade.
