The CheckShardFilteringMetadata hook is executed on teardown of ShardingTest: for each node of each shard, if the shard owns at least one chunk for a collection it makes sure that the cached metadata are correct. This is wrong because we can't assume that each secondary has already replicated the cached chunks and instantiated the filtering metadata before the cluster is teared down.
