Description:

Symptoms

When you create a new database in an instance of SQL Server 2017, a deadlock condition may occur. Note The deadlock condition is more likely to occur if the instance of SQL Server has many existing databases.

Cause

This issue may occur when a background system task is running that frequently looks for existing resumable indexes in all databases.

Resolution

This fix is included in Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2017.
