KB4340134 - FIX: Error when a role that is defined with a restricted column is used to run a drillthrough query in SSAS - Microsoft Support

Last update date:

6/21/2022

Affected products:

SQL Server 2017 Developer

SQL Server 2017 Enterprise

SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Core

Affected releases:

build lower than 14.0.3030.27

Fixed releases:

14.0.3030.27

Description:

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario: You have Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) installed on SQL Server in Tabular mode. You connect the services through a user who belongs to a role that is defined with a restricted column in a table. You run a drillthrough query on another column in the same table. In this scenario when you run the query, you receive an error message that resembles the following: The 'column_name' column cannot be found in the 'table_name' table. For example, you define Object Level security on the Reseller Sales table and Gross Profit column, and then then create a role that restricts it to Read permissions. The drillthrough query fails, and you receive the following error message: The 'Gross Profit' column cannot be found in the '$Reseller Sales' table.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the following update for SQL Server: Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2017
