Assume that you have an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2017. If you use ring buffer target to briefly hold extended event data in memory, the log message may display “N/A,” and the buffer may overflow.
The fix for this issue is included in the following update for SQL Server: Cumulative Update 13 for SQL Server 2017
Each new build for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and security fixes that were in the previous build. We recommend that you install the latest build for your version of SQL Server: SQL Server 2017 build versions
To work around this issue so that the log message is captured correctly, use a target other than a ring buffer target.
