Description:

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario: You have incremental statistics that are built on partitioned tables in SQL Server 2017. You merge or split a partition. The statistics are automatically updated. In this scenario, the incremental statistics tree may become corrupted, and you notice that an access violation occurs.

Resolution

The issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server: Cumulative Update 14 for SQL Server 2017 About cumulative updates for SQL Server: Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update.
