Description:

Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2017, 2016, or 2014. You notice that support for the "Geocentric Datum of Australia 2020 (GDA2020)" coordinate reference system is added to sys.spatial_reference_systems view in the form of two new spatial reference IDs (SRID values) that resemble the following: SRID 7843       geographic 3D SRID 7844       geographic 2D   The two new SRIDs can be used in spatial data and all spatial methods that are related to  the geography data type.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server: Cumulative Update 20 for SQL Server 2017 Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2016 SP2 Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2014 SP3 Cumulative Update 18 for SQL Server 2014 SP2 About cumulative updates for SQL Server: Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update.
