Description:
Symptoms
Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017. Bulk insert will be converted to trickle insert under memory pressure. In addition, a deadlock that resembles the following will occur when there are two sessions concurrently insert their rows to a Clustered Columnstore Index (CCI). Msg 1205, Level 13, State 134, Line LineNumber Transaction (Process ID ProcessId) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server: Cumulative Update 18 for SQL Server 2017 Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2016 SP2 About cumulative updates for SQL Server: Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update.
