Updates History

Published: 2024-02-13T18:07:46.82+00:00 ---------------------------------------- After installing updates released July 25, 2023 (KB5028254 (https://support.microsoft.com/help/5028254)) or later, you might lose connectivity to authenticated networks when changing connection methods. This might result in an inability to access work or school network resources, such as mapped drives. Application of Group Policies may also be hindered by this issue. This most commonly occurs when a system connects to a domain authenticated network using a wired network connection (such as an ethernet cable or a docking station) after that system is already connected to a domain authenticated network via a Wi-Fi connection. This sequence involves connecting to authenticated networks, for which enterprise and business users are more likely to be affected by this issue. Workaround: To temporarily work around the issue, disconnect the wired network and connect it again. This should restore connectivity via the wired method and the authenticated network, as expected. Resolution: This issue was resolved in Windows Updates released February 13, 2024 (KB5034765 (https://support.microsoft.com/help/5034765)) or later. We recommend you install the latest security update for your device. It contains important improvements and issue resolutions, including this one. If you install an update released February 13, 2024, or later, you do not need to follow any manual steps to resolve this issue. If you are using an update released before February 13, 2024, and have this issue, you can resolve it by following the steps listed below: 1. Download and install the MSI (Microsoft Installer) file linked below. 2. Enable the device policy, which will apply the resolution of this issue, via the following steps: a. Open the Windows Local Group Policy Editor. This can be done by opening the Start Menu and typing “Edit Group Policy”, then clicking on the first search result (titled “Edit Group Policy”). The Local Group Policy Editor application will open b. On the left-hand panel of the Local Group Policy Editor, double-click “Administrative Templates” under “Computer Configuration” c. Expand “KB5032192 231110_02251 Feature Preview”, then select “Windows 11 (original release)” d. On the right-hand panel, select the “Enabled” radio button e. Select “Apply” then “OK” 3. Install Windows updates released November 14, 2023, or later. Note that the Windows update (step 3) may be installed before downloading and enabling the MSI file (step 1 and 2). However, if done in that sequence, the device will need to be restarted twice – once after Windows update is installed, and again after the installation of the MSI file.
