Veeam Backup & Replication supports backup and restore of workloads running on Azure Stack Hub using Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows and Veeam Agent for Linux. These can be centrally managed with Veeam Backup & Replication. Restore operations are performed using the Direct Restore to Microsoft Azure Stack. Issue Solution Restore to Microsoft Azure Stack requires the user to define the supported API version. Create the following registry values. Then, restart the Veeam Backup Service afterwards: Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\ Type: DWORD Value: AzureManagedDisksCheckMaxDiskSize Data: 0 (zero)Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication Type: String Value: AzureManagedDisksForcedAPI Data: 2017-03-30 Depending on the storage destination used, detection logic may incorrectly detect ReFS compatibility. Create the following registry value. Then, restart the Veeam Backup Service afterwards: Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication Type: DWORD Value: UseCifsVirtualSynthetic Data: 0 (zero) Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows Recovery Media cannot be created because the Windows image included in Azure and on Azure Stack does not contain the necessary recovery partition to generate Recovery Media.
