Veeam Support Statement Regarding SQL 2012 LocalDB EOL

Last update date:

3/17/2023

Affected products:

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows

Affected releases:

5.0

Fixed releases:

No fixed releases provided.

Description:

Details

When operating in Standalone or Managed by agent mode, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows version 5 and all previous versions utilize Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB. Microsoft has announced that SQL Server 2012 will reach End-of-Life on July 12, 2022. However, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 5.0 will not reach End-of-Support until February of 2024 and will continue to use SQL 2012 LocalDB.   Recommended Action With the release of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0, we now advise all customers to upgrade to Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0 uses SQLite database instead of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB. Seamless migration to the new database engine will occur during the upgrade to Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0.
