How do I enable trap deduplication in Smarts NPM for BGP?Smarts dmctl command output of SNMP_TrapManager::Trap-Manager-BGP-Adapter-Manager::deduplicationWindow command shows value of -1.
For other protocols managed in Smarts NPM, the deduplication variable for AM is configured in the trapd.conf file. However, configuring deduplication settings in Smarts NPM for BGP is different, and there are two different ways of setting the BGP deduplication value. The methods include using a dmctl command and modifying the bgp.conf configuration file as described in the following sections of this Fix statement.Setting the BGP deduplication value using Smarts dmctl commandUse the following dmctl command to set the BGP deduplication value:dmctl -s <BGP domain name> put SNMP_TrapManager::Trap-Manager-BGP-Adapter-Manager::deduplicationWindow <value>IMPORTANT! This method will work for the existing domain. However, if you start a new domain, the value will be lost. For the BGP deduplication value setting to be permanent, you must configure the value in the bgp.conf file as described in the following section.Configuring the BGP deduplication value in the bgp.conf configuration fileTo configure the BGP deduplication value setting in the bgp.conf file, do the following: Open the bgp.conf file for editing. This file is found under the local/conf/bgp directory.Add the following to the bottom of the bgp.conf file:SNMP_TrapManager::Trap-Manager-BGP-Adapter-Manager { deduplicationWindow = <value> }Restart your BGP domain.
