Description:

Symptoms

Migrating repositories to a more recent version of smarts causes ICMP only devices, to display without the DNS name. Why are my ICMP devices not displaying the DNS name and instead they are displaying the IP address as the system name.Rediscovery of a device does resolve to the DNS name

Resolution

If you have moved your repository to a more recent version of smarts, you may notice that your ICMP only devices are not displaying in your topology with the DNS name; instead they are displaying the IP address as the system name. The DNS name is not updated correctly within the migrated .rps file or you may have also made DNS name changes recently. To fix the issue, delete the device and then discover it again. You will find that the device is now displayed with the correct DNS name.
