Description:

Symptoms

Managed Interface shows status as UKNOWN.

Cause

The interface status is UKNOWN because the interface cannot be reached due to a failure existing in the network path between the Smarts AM server and this router interface. The router may be down or the interface may be unreachable for polling due to the failure or another device.

Resolution

None. This is expected behavior.

Related Information

It should be possible to determine what is the primary failure resulting in the loss of connectivity and polling of this interface. By locating an interface down or router unresponsive in the Smarts SAM Global Console for this device, you should be able to locate the failure resulting in the UNKNOWN status on the Interface.
