Description:
Symptoms
The following error is found in the Smarts SAM trapd log file Bad entry in trap_mgr.conf
Cause
There is an invalid entry in the trap_mgr.conf configuration file found here: <BASEDIR>/smarts/bin/sm_edit conf/icoi/trap_mgr.conf The following is an example that can cause the "Bad entry" error: Invalid entry ElementName : $SYS$ Valid entry ElementName: $SYS$ Note the space in the invalid entry between the ElementName attribute and the semicolon (:). A space between the attribute name and the ":" is not allowed.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, find and correct the invalid entry in the trap_mgr.conf configuration file.
