Symptoms

Smarts SAM Global Console Telnet Server Tool is not available for notifications associated with Port or Interface objects Option for "Server Tools > Telnet" is not displayed when right-clicking on a Smarts SAM notification

Cause

The Smarts SAM Telnet tool is defined to be appplied to all UnitaryComputerSystem instances. For Interface or Port notifications in Smarts SAM, if the Interface or Port classes are not imported into SAM (which they are not by design), then the ocurredOn Relationship (elementClass and elementName) is set to its systemName (of a Switch or Router), which is a UnitaryComputerSystem Class. In this case, the Telnet Server Tool would be applied to this notification.However, in some customized Smarts SAM deployments, the import of the Interface and Port classes into SAM has been enabled through the SAM DXA file, which sets the elementClass and ElementName of the associated notification attribute to a non-UnitaryComputerSystem value (an Interface or Port). In this case, the tool is not available for such notifications.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must reverse the change that imported the Interface and Port objects into Smarts SAM.
