Description:

Symptoms

Unable to pull Cisco IOS running config via SNMP/TFTP mechanism Error:Error in packet.Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.

Cause

There are two related causes:The SNMP Community String in use is Read-Only. TFTP traffic is blocked between device and device server.

Resolution

Confirm that the SNMP Community String being used is Read-Write. Without this the device server is unable to initiate the TFTP transfer through SNMP.Confirm that TFTP traffic is not blocked between device and device server. If it is blocked, the transfer initialization via SNMP will be successful, but the file transfer will fail. Blocking could be through an access-list in place on the device's interface, or a firewall in between or firewall settings local to the device server.
