Symptoms
Is it required to have a Database password when running a backup.pl and archive-utility.pl?
Cause
The following changes were added to the 9.x series. Security changes Using AES-256 algorithm for encryption.Externalizes the encryption key used for encryption.Password protected database access.Supports secure https communications only.
Resolution
In versions listed below it is a requirement to have the Database password to run the backup.pl and archive.pl database utilities. NCM 9.1NCM 9.2NCM 9.2.1NCM 9.2.2.NCM 9.22a In versions listed below it is not a requirement to have the Database password to run the backup.pl and archive.pl database utilities. NCM 9.3NCM 9.4NCM 9.4.1 The database password is the password you entered when you ran the installation of NCM and it requested for you to create a Database password. If you don't know or remember your Database Password please contact EMC Techincal Support at 1-800-782-4362.
