Symptoms

Users are unable to log in. Receive error in server.log: ERROR [com.powerup.configmgr.cel.jmx.CelCoreService] (MessageListenerThread - CelQueue) failed to insert record into the database: An I/O error occurred while sending to the backend....org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: An I/O error occurred while sending to the backend....Caused by: java.io.IOException: Stream closed

Cause

There is an issue with the JDBC connection management where a connection on which a transaction time out happened is not recycled properly and still maintained in the pool.

Resolution

To restore login capability, you will need to restart all services on the Application Server or Combo Server: /etc/init.d/vcmaster restart The root cause of the issue was resolved in VoyenceControl 4.1.0 Hotfix 1. Please upgrade and apply the currently available Hotfix.
