Description:

Symptoms

After a cold reboot, SNMPv3 traps coming into Smarts SAM from a Cisco device stop generating Notifications Incoming SNMPv3 Traps from a Cisco device stop generating Smarts SAM Notifications after cold reboot

Cause

After a cold reboot, the SNMPv3 traps coming from Cisco devices violate the SNMPv3 specification. This is because the reboot count does not increment and the timestamp goes down from the last message.

Resolution

This is a known problem with the Cisco IOS firmware that is resolved in IOS version 12.2 (33) SXI-2a. Contact your Cisco representative to obtain this firmware upgrade.
