Smarts IP: IP address is associated with the wrong device name in topology. Device name is associated with incorrect IP. How do I determine how Smarts will resolve a device name?

Symptoms

IP address is being associated with the wrong device names in topologyDevice name is associated with incorrect IP. How do I determine how Smarts will resolve a device name?

Cause

DNS server entry is misconfigured or there are multiple DNS servers where the IP address was associated with wrong device name.

Resolution

Use the SM-System nameToAddr [host name] and SM-System addrToName [IP address] commands to verify device name to IP mapping, and correct as necessary. The following examples show the complete syntax of these two commands: <BASEDIR>/IP/smarts/bin/dmctl -s INCHARGE-AM invoke SM_System::SM-System nameToAddr moto-gw <BASEDIR>/IP/smarts/bin/dmctl -s INCHARGE-AM invoke SM_System::SM-System addrToName 192.168.1.1
