UPDATE - April 2024: Previous versions of this article stated the EOL would be May 1, 2024 That has since changed and the article is now up to date with new dates. We are announcing the End of Life (EOL) for the UEM Legacy Catalog for UEM SaaS customers only at this time. If you are a On-Premises UEM Customer, this notice does not impact you at this time, further communications will follow for timelines on migrating On-Premises UEM Customers to the Intelligent Hub App Catalog. This change paves the way for the more advanced Intelligent Hub App Catalog, powered by Workspace ONE Hub Services. This transition is a strategic step towards providing a more integrated, user-friendly, and feature-rich application catalog experience.NOTE: If you are already using the App Catalog in the WS1 Intelligent Hub Application, this transition does not affect you, and you're already utilizing our most advanced features. What is Happening? The UEM Legacy Catalog (known as the AirWatch Catalog) has 2 important dates you should be aware of. End of General Support (EOGS) on August 31, 2024 After this date, the Legacy Catalog will no longer be supported and any support that is requested for the Legacy Catalog will result in guidance to migrate to the new Intelligent Hub Catalog before additional support will be given. End of Life (EOL) on October 31, 2024. After this date, the Legacy Catalog will no longer be available. A UEM update after October 31, 2024 will be made that will remove functionality of the Legacy Catalog. Any customers that are still using the Legacy Catalog will no longer have the functionality for their end users to install apps from their device until Admins migrate to the new Intelligent Hub Catalog. Installation via the UEM console will still be available. The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub App Catalog will be the replacement going forward. Once configured, end users will no longer access the App Catalog from the Web Clip on their home screen, but will find their Apps and Entitlements in the Intelligent Hub App. Admins are able to then leverage new features and functionality that are built into Intelligent Hub for a more seamless end user experience. This has been mentioned in a previous KB Article: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/90484 Platforms Impacted iOS/iPadOS Android macOS Windows Why the Change? The decision to retire the UEM Legacy Catalog is in line with our commitment to innovation and excellence. The Intelligent Hub App Catalog offers a modernized platform with enhanced capabilities including: Unified Catalog: A single destination for all your apps across any device.Personalized Experience: Tailored recommendations and organization-specific branding.Advanced Search and Discovery: Improved search functionality to easily find and access applications.Streamlined Management: Simplified app management and deployment for IT administrators.

Solution

What Do You Need to Do? For customers who leverage the UEM Legacy Catalog we recommend the following actions before August 31, 2024. Review: Familiarize yourself with the new Intelligent Hub App Catalog features and benefits App Catalog Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7i6YEPWADc General Page on Intelligent Hub: https://www.vmware.com/products/workspace-one/intelligent-hub.html Setting up Hub Services: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workspace-ONE/services/intelligent-hub_IDM/GUID-D398B4CD-0443-479E-B5F4-6DD8621FAF55.html Educate: Inform and train your users about the new catalog and its features. See WhatIsWorkspaceONE.com for ideasPlan & Migrate: Develop a transition plan that includes migration and user communication timelines. Migration Intelligent Hub Catalog is powered by Hub Services which is co-located with WS1 Access. Most customers should already have an Access tenant (with Hub Services) provisioned and integrated with UEM. To migrate to the App Catalog in Intelligent Hub, administrators will need to enable and customize the App Catalog in Workspace ONE Hub Services. Previously there was a requirement for customers to use Access as their Source of Authentication, this is no longer the case and UEM can still be used as the Source of Authentication. It is recommended to use Access for your Source of Auth allowing for additional features of Hub Services to function, but is not required for the App Catalog. Documentation For step-by-step details on how to move to the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub Catalog, as well as benefits over the legacy App Catalog, please follow the Tech Zone guide here: https://techzone.vmware.com/resource/moving-vmware-workspace-one-intelligent-hub-catalog For more information on Hub Services and how to Activate see our detailed documentation here: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workspace-ONE/services/intelligent-hub_IDM/GUID-D398B4CD-0443-479E-B5F4-6DD8621FAF55.html Support During Transition If there are additional questions or concerns that are not covered in this KB article, please contact your Account team or VMware support. The Intelligent Hub App Catalog significantly advances our application management offering. We are confident that this transition will enhance your user experience and streamline app management for your IT team. We appreciate your cooperation and are excited to support you in this new chapter. FAQ Question: Are we required to use Access to use Hub Services to get the Intelligent Hub Catalog? Answer: No, but you will need to activate your Access tenant as Hub Services sits within Access. Using Access as your identity provider (IDP) is no longer a requirement to use Hub Services and the Intelligent Hub Catalog, see the next question below for information on getting a tenant. Hub Services + Intelligent Hub Catalog functions with UEM to deliver what the legacy web clip supports today. Question: I'm not sure on the status of my Access deployment, can you help? Answer: Yes If you do not have an existing Access deployment you can request a Cloud Access Tenant Reach out to your Workspace ONE Support team or your account administrator. If you are looking for a new On-Premises Access deployment Reach out to your Account team or VMware Support If you don’t know if you have an existing Access deployment Reach out to your Account team or VMware Support Question: What will happen with my UEM Deployment on August 31, 2024 (EOGS)? Answer: If you are a cloud UEM customer after October 31, 2024 (EOL) and have not moved to the Intelligent Hub Catalog The options for configuring the Legacy Catalog are not guaranteed to be available and any support regarding the Legacy Catalog will result in recommendation to migrate to the new Intelligent Hub App Catalog before further troubleshooting. Question: What if I am waiting for Apple Books support for iOS? Answer: At this time we are working to bring Apple Books support so end users can install books on demand from their devices using the Intelligent Hub Catalog We recommend testing out the migration in a UAT environment and be prepared when we release this functionality for Apple Books to test and migrate over. We recommend testing out the migration in a UAT environment and be prepared when we release this functionality to migrate over. Question: We have users that are enrolled into UEM via the Web browser where they download a profile to get management, do we need to now have Hub on the device? Answer: Yes, in order for your users to have an App Catalog, Hub is required to be on the device. We recommend pushing down Hub as a managed app so your users will have Hub on their device.
