In Fireware v12.5.4 and higher, an AP managed by the Gateway Wireless Controller that runs AP firmware 8.5.x or lower cycles between a status of Online and Offline.
This issue is resolved in Fireware v12.5.5 U1 and v12.6.2 U2.For Fireware v12.5.1 and higher, the required minimum version of AP firmware is v8.6.x or higher. If you have upgraded to Fireware v12.5.4, and your APs run firmware 8.5.x or lower, you will not be able to upgrade the AP firmware because the AP cycles between the Offline and Online status. There are two ways you can work around the issue: Downgrade your Firebox to a previous version, upgrade your APs to firmware version 8.6.x or higher, then upgrade your Firebox again to v12.5.4 or higher. Contact WatchGuard technical support to help you update your AP firmware.
