Description:

Issue

If you install the Host Sensor for Threat Detection and Response, or TDR, on a Windows computer, the computer can sometimes crash. When this occurs, you could see a blue error page, often called the Blue Screen of Death or BSOD. This issue occurs when the Host Sensor monitors a file that is active on the Windows computer and does not gracefully handle access from multiple sources. A frequent cause of this issue is the file audiodg.exe, specifically when the computer has outdated sound drivers.WatchGuard has seen this issue with multiple Windows OS versions, with computers from multiple vendors. This issue has been reported on Lenovo and Asus systems, but could occur on any Windows system with Vista or later OS.

Workaround/Solution

Solutions to this problem include: To avoid this issue, you can add an exclusion in TDR for the audiodg.exe file. The full path on most systems is C:\Windows\System32\audiodg.exe. To learn more about TDR exclusions, see Configure TDR Exclusions. Run Windows Update to make sure your computer has the most up-to-date version of all hardware drivers and system files. If you continue to see this issue, contact WatchGuard technical support for further assistance.
