Description:

Issue

This issue applies to WatchGuard EDR, EDR Core, EPDR, and Advanced EPDR. It was resolved in Hotfix WGUA 1389. Errors might occur on Windows computers with WatchGuard Endpoint Security v8.00.21.xxxx or v8.00.22.xxxxx installed with decoy files enabled when the computers require multibyte character sets (MBCS).For information on how to determine your protection version, go to Determine the Software Version in Help Center. Note: Multibyte character sets provide support for languages with scripts that have a large number of characters and symbols, predominantly Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Workaround/Solution

A hotfix is available to resolve this issue.To apply a hotfix on the affected endpoint: Download and save this hotfix file to the endpoint: HF-WGUA1389-multilanguage.exeDouble-click the downloaded file.If prompted, to fully apply the hotfix, restart the endpoint. Note: To install the unattended or silent version of the hotfix, click here.
