Description:

Issue

On Android 12 and higher, you might see a warning message on your WatchGuard Mobile Security app that prompts you to change the app hibernation or battery optimizations settings. When you review these settings on the device, you see that they are set as recommended, are disabled, and you cannot modify them.

Workaround/Solution

Change App Hibernation and Ignore Battery Optimizations Settings To change the app hibernation or battery optimizations settings, you must first disable device admin for the WatchGuard Mobile Security app, then disable and re-enable the app hibernation and battery optimization settings, and then re-enable device admin. To change the app hibernation and battery optimization settings: Disable WatchGuard Mobile Security from Device admin apps. The location differs by device vendor: Samsung — Settings > Security (or Biometrics and security)> Other security settings > Device admin appsXiaomi — Settings > Privacy protection > Special permissions > Device admin appsOther — Settings > Apps > Special App Access > Device admin apps Restart the device.Go to Settings > Apps and find WatchGuard Mobile Security.Apply these settings: Select Battery and change the battery settings to No restrictions or Unrestricted. In the App Info or App Permissions on the device, disable Remove permissions and free up space or Pause app activity if unused. If the setting show as disabled, enable it and then disable it again. Enable WatchGuard Mobile Security from Device admin apps. If the problem persists, contact Support. This workaround does not apply to Work Profiles apps of devices managed from an MDM because it does not prevent the hibernation warning. A future release of the Android app will include a fix for this issue.
